It was possible to enter on the day, and those who had already entered had to collect their race numbers and timing chips before the event . .

and somebody had the bright idea of making sure that the signage was way above head height so we could all read it and find our way around easily . .

Jon Dixon, Compère for the day, who did an excellent job whenever I was listening, was the string that held everything together . . and there were plenty of volunteers ready to put anybody back together that may have needed it . .

excellent incentives to be one of the prize winners . . everybody else had to do without the bubbles . .

lots of stalls and food and areas to hang out . .

and Shiplake Samba provided some excellent entertainment . . although if you weren't so keen there was somewhere to hide . .

and as the time for the first of the 2k races approached, the area around Race HQ began to fill . .
