We'll start at the start . . with some views of the crowds of runners and their families and friends, waiting and preparing for the Shiplake Scramble . .

there were plenty of runners wanting to enter on the day . .

these timing chips had been used in the children's races . . the beer was donated by one of the race sponsors to be given as prizes . . and the Red Cross were ready to deal with any emergency that might occur . .

dogs weren't allowed on the sports field, and so this pair of good looking animals, and several others too, were left to make friends with one another beside the fence . .

whilst the humans enjoyed all the retail opportunities and demonstrations that were on show . .

and of course . . refreshments . .

is it me, or are Super Heroes getting younger these days? . . and drummers too, clearly . .

almost race time now, and everyone's getting ready . .

and the runners assemble in the start area, some stretching, some chattering . . all looking forward (or not) to the 10k in their own way . .

as we listened to the music and waited for the race to get underway, I'm not sure if this dad was dancing or trying to shake his welly off . .
