It was busy at Race HQ early on Sunday morning, as runners and their supporters arrived to prepare for this year's Dunstable Downs Challenge, with a choice before them of a half marathon, 20 miles or a marathon around the eastern end of the beautiful Chiltern Hills . . . . as usual I got up by the Downs' Visitor Centre ahead of the runners . . . . and had a great view of the runners snaking along the footpath towards me . . and just a few minutes later, away from me . . . . which meant it was time for me to drive over to the other side of the village of Studham, where I knew the runners would be crossing this field. Studham looks to be a pretty village, and if I ever figure out which route the runners follow through it I may stop there one year to get some photos . . . . and once everyone had run across the field I made my way back to the foot of the Downs . . where the first runner I saw was a club mate of mine, and it was great to see Mark finishing 2nd in the ½ Marathon . . I always get a great reaction from so many of the runners when standing at the foot of the hill from the Downs . . here are four with far too much energy left over as they near the end of their 13.1 mile journey . . . . and there's always so many other things to take photos of as I wait for the runners to come by . . . . this year I ventured up to the top of the hill and spent some time there . . strange to think that the middle picture was taken at 2 o'clock on a September Sunday afternoon . . and the final picture shows the rain tumbling down . . and in the distance, two runners who ran down Whipsnade Road and so didn't get their picture taken on the hillside . .
Thanks
as always to my friends at Dunstable Running Club for having me along
to take photos again this |
