Today was the day when the waiting stopped and Milton Keynes parkrun became more than a concept and turned into flesh and bones, lycra and EVA compounds . .

Today was the day when we had the MK parkrun try out, when the volunteers met for the first time and received some training, and a handful of runners tried out the course . .

The volunteers met at the unearthly hour of 8am on what would prove to be a glorious bright and crisp January morning, and we went upstairs to the cafe in LAFitness, where Gareth explained the roles that would need filling, spoke about the course and showed us the timing apparatus. Here are most of the volunteers looking on as Gareth demonstrates some of the field management system functions on the parkrun laptop . .

Below are most of the volunteers and the runners, shortly before 9 o'clock and the start of the trial parkrun . .

Use the buttons on the left to find the photos. This page is the MK parkrun page . . I come along to parkrun events to take photos for the same reason as we run them, for enjoyment and fun, and although I do sell photos taken at other races, I don't sell those that I take at parkruns. If you would like a high resolution version of any of the photos (the images on display being low res), please get in touch, tell me which photo and I'll gladly send you the file.

You're also welcome to download the photos from my parkrun pages, but if you use them for anything that others may see, please tell them the race photographer dot com took it. Thanks!
