in the olden days, before the time switchover from BC to AD, the custom was to decorate an evergreen tree at the time of the winter solstice, to encourage the sun to return . . and a corner of Bedfont Lakes has been set aside where anyone can come along and decorate a handful of the trees there . .

the volunteers had a quick conference in the car park . . and then I had to set off to my marshalling poiint

by the time I returned to the finish area, there were still a few runners left, having a brief natter before heading off, and of course the volunteers were still there, completing the results . .

unfortunately on my way to the parkrun, a magpie flew into my car . . I don't know what came of it, but it didn't half make a loud thud when it hit . . so this photo is for that bird . .
