Races in the evening, especially when they're patr of a series as the Charndon 5k is, are a great chance to catch up with friends from your own club and from other clubs too. Loads of networking goes on, with a forest load of race entry forms being attached to competitors' cars to advertise future events, loads of teasing about fitness (or otherwise) and about the likely outcome of the event from all parts of the field, irrespective of the ability of those sharing the banter . . and there will be those who haven't raced 5k before, who'll look around at the other runners, and maybe wish they hadn't sent that form in after all!!
