I had a great morning over in Bedfordshire yesterday, at the popular Sandy 10 mile road race organised by Biggleswade Athletic Club, despite the fact that the sun had only just come out when I was about to set off on my return journey home . . and yes, the first photo here is the last one I took on the day . .

. . as I was wandering around Race HQ I found this room full of marshalls . .

. . and a Sports Hall full of runners and supporters, mostly preparing for the 10 mile journey ahead . .

. . it was a short warm up to the start . .

. . and it was just a few moments past 10.30 when the runners emerged from Blaydon Road on their way to Gamlingay and back . .

. . I made my way to the railway bridge at the bottom of Sandy Lane, at the 9 mile point . . where I found these two marshals practising some moves . . and was disappointed to find as I waited for the runners that the trains weren't running that morning. No trains, no tractors, no planes . . thank goodness for runners and pink rabbits!

. . after 46 minutes of cycling the Race Referee came down the hill . . shortly to be followed by the Lead Cyclist and the race winner, Will Green of Serpentine Running Club . . and then 475 more runners came along behind him . .

. . use the buttons to the left (you'll need to scroll up a bit now) to find photos from before the race, of the start, and on the riverbank and at the finish. You can even buy some of them if you like!!
