To get us all in the mood, here's a short video of the start of the Didcot 5 . .

We had a bright and breezy morning in South Oxfordshire for the 7th annual Didcot 5 mile race . . where there was lots for me to take photos of when I wasn't watching the runners . .

. . but when I was watching the runners it became quite confusing . . because they set off from the field below, behind the town's Willowbrook Leisure Centre . .

. . and then turned right to make their way out of the field and ran down a cycle path . . before turning right to run alongside the railway line . .

. . and a few moments later they came back down the cycle path before disappearing through this bridge under the railway and heading off to goodness knows where . .

. . before suddenly I noticed the second placed runner emerge from behind this tree . .

. . and realised that the runners were coming back from wherever they'd disappeared to . . collecting a drink as they set off along a different cycle path . .

. . coming back alongside the railway line . . and if they had any energy left, sprinting across the field to the finish line . .

. . where there were medals waiting for them . . and lots of different colours of squash . .

. . and cake too, if you made a small donation . .

After the excitement of the 5 miler there was a 2 mile Fun Run . . with these trophies waiting for the winners . . and when that had been run . . and the prizes presented . . it was time to put everything away, process the results, and look forward to the next race . .

Please use the buttons below, and up at the top left of the pages, to find your way around the photos. Thank you to Didcot Runners for the invitation to take some photos of their event . . as I hope you'll see from the photos, I had a great morning . .
