at 9.30 on a red hot June morning over 900 runners set off from Thame Sports Centre to take part in this ever popular 10k, following a route which went out through the town centre to Towersey and then followed the Phoenix Trail for almost 3k before the final few hundred metres back on the road and onto the field to finish where they'd started . .

I enjoyed strolling around the field before the start, seeing some people looking for shade, whilst others seemed oblivious to the heat of the sun. Met up with my Tring clubmates, and  some other running friends, and suddenly it was 9.25 and time to get into position for the start. I watched everyone emerge from the field and head for the town centre and made my way to the end of the Phoenix Trail where I saw everyone come through, mostly looking extremely hot, very weary, and yet still able to raise a smile . .
