9 am on a Sunday morning and Cumberland Road is unusually quiet. But this wasn't any Sunday morning, as a couple of miles away in the city centre, over 10,000 runners were preparing to run 13.1 miles, in the 25th Bristol Half Marathon.

That's way too many runners for me to even attempt to capture a photo of everyone of them, so this small collection is of people representing my club - Bristol & West AC, some other friends who I picked out from amongst the crowd, and some of the fancy dress runners that took part . . at least a couple of whom in particular raise the question - how do you train to run in that?

To those of you who spotted me on the footbridge - thanks for the smiles and waves - I hope I managed to brighten your 9th mile . . and to everyone, well done!
