The Hillcrest 10k has been a part of the south-east London running scene for a few years now, and has been organised by Hillcrest Netball Club. This year they joined forces with Collingwood Athletic Club to help stage the event. Race HQ is at Warlingham Rugby Football Club, and the race was sponsored by runtolive, a running shop in nearby Ashtead . .

. . the race started and finished in front of the rugby club house, with one and half circuits of the field . .

. . once most of the runners had left the field on their 10k journey, the junior athletes set off around one or two laps of the field, depending on their age . .

. . whilst they were hurtling round the pitch, the grown ups were running around here, the windswept Riddlesdown to Whyteleafe countryside area (home of Riddlesdown parkrun) . .

. . I timed my walk back to Race HQ perfectly, with the last of the runners crossing the finish line just ahead of me . . and once the results had been worked out Fiona made a great job of the presentations . .

. . I managed to get this photo of my friends from Collingwood AC . . maybe if I'm invited back we can get a similar shot of everyone from Hillcrest Netball Club too . .

. . use the buttons at the bottom and top left of each page to find more photos - of the start, of the runners about to leave Riddlesdown, and of a few other things that caught my attention whilst I was taking photos . .
