When I take photos at races there's always lots of other things to take photos of too. Usually during the race, but the Zoo 10k is different, with less than 5 minutes elapsing between the last photo I took at the start and the first photo of the first lap . . and from then on it was pretty full on as the laps seemed to merge into one another with everyone streaming by . . and there wasn't even much time to take photos like these three, of the runners approaching me from a distance . .

but there's lots of time both before and after the race to stroll around and take photos of whatever catches my eye . .

and here, with the Lions, Oryxes, Cheetahs and Flamingos are some of the animals the runners may have seen in the corner of the Zoo where I took my photos of them running . .

once the race was over I went on safari . . and found this young Moose and it's mother . .

a friendly Giraffe . .

loved the Tigers . .

can't remember exactly what these are but I seem to remember that they're a pretty big breed of cow . .

but I do know what these are . . and they seemed to be having great fun in the dust . .

some Llamas I think . . and a breed of Goat whose name escapes me . .

and my favourite photo of the whole day on the right . . took over 10 minutes' waiting before this lovely Red Panda became curious enough to wonder what I was doing . .

some more Oryx, maybe?

a gorgeous little Otter . .

Bison chilling on a Sunday afternoon . .

Lemurs all worn out . . must have been a heavy Saturday night in Lemur-land?

a very pre-occupied Chimpanzee . .

some Southern White Rhino . .

a Red River Hog . .

I know these . . Zebras!

and these too . . Meerkats . . think there's at least two of them in the 2nd and 4th photos . .

the beautiful face of this African Lion . .

more Oryx maybe? and a Wallaby? or is it a Kangaroo?

lots of flying things too . . can't remember what sort of Owl this is . . nor what sort of Geese are these . . and erm . . well . . there's a Peacock . . and a very cheeky Great Tit that almost landed on my head at one point!

the animal noises are punctuated throughout the day by the sound of the Excelsior pulling the Jumbo Express . .

and finally . . in a place full of herbivores and so many feet tramping around the Zoo all day and every day . . what a nice surprise to have this beautiful Iris catch my eye . .
