The sun goes down on the 1st Chiltern League Cross Country Match of 2009, 50 years after the birth of the League. To celebrate the Occasion every participant received a Commemorative Medal, and it's worth mentioning that 2 of the runners in the Men's Mob Match had taken part in a Chiltern League event back in 1959!!

On a freezing cold afternoon, with the temperature hovering at around 0° despite the bright sunshine, Tring put out 2 strong teams, and as John Manning wrote "The club won the team event overall in our division today as well as the mens overall and mens vets event. As a result, the club has retained its strong league position in Division 2 and overall is in second place behind Watford. With one match to go in the season, we have a very good chance of being promoted to Division 1. We are also leading the division in the mens Vets category. Alison came first in the F45 age category today and Nigel second in the M40."

So as might be imagined, lots of satisfied smiles afterwards. Once again, the sharp sunshine spoiled some of the photos I took, but I've included them anyway as I think they still show the determination and effort everyone put in to do as well as they could for the club as well as for themselves :-)
