I think there’s something special about all the races I go to and report on (and I don’t just mean that I’m there!) – it’d be nice to get fit once again, take a year off photography, and run them all. But I've got to say that the Staveley Stampede does seem to have something extra going for it . .

Based in the beautiful village of Staveley in North Yorkshire, everyone involved was very friendly, the weather was beautiful (if a little warm for running), the course was breathtaking (in every sense), there was an excellent barbecue, and it was great to see the support the runners were giving to one another in the final few yards of the race, as those who had already finished the race waited for their friends and club mates to complete the 10 mile course . .

it was a lovely morning for getting out and enjoying the day . . however you choose to do so . .

how's this for a proper Yorkshire drinks station? . . and here's Steve leading the way . .

Hopefully the photos on the following pages tell the story of the 3rd Staveley Stampede – use the buttons on the left or at the foot of the page to find your way around . .
