The Morden Hall parkrun was a one-off parkrun event, part of the Wandle Valley Festival in the National Trust's Morden Hall Park. On a damp gray morning, volunteers started gathering by "the white bridge" over the River Wandle shortly before 8.15, and in the half hour that followed over 100 people turned up, some to volunteer, some to spectate and support, and 86 to take part in the race.

Morden Hall's grounds were a lovely surprise to those of us who had never been there before, being very green and pleasant . . and full of all sorts of wildlife, in particular one heron who successfully evaded my persistent attempts to take a photo of it.

The parkrun seemed to be a great success from the point of view of those taking part, most of whom were happy to wait until most of the finishers' details had been captured to pose en masse for the photographer from the Wimbledon Gazette. Not possessing a wide angle lens, I captured the scene in bite size chunks and those photos are included amongst these galleries.

The morning concluded for some of us with a very welcome hot drink from the NT café, and for slightly fewer of us, a slice of Chris's homemade cake

For me as a photographer this was the first time I'd used my snazzy rain protector for my camera and with hindsight I realise that taking photos with it on the camera is a challenge!! Almost all the photos on these pages link to a larger version, the one exception being the photo at the top of the page.

I come along to parkrun events to take photos for the same reason as you run them, for enjoyment and fun. So these aren't on sale. However if you would like a high resolution version of any of the photos (the images on display being low res), please get in touch, tell me which photo and I'll gladly send you the file.
