Afterword: What a great day out I had and I think the runners did too everyone at Dunstable Road Runners made me very welcome despite having more than enough to do making sure the races ran to order . .
Unfortunately for stunning photography it was foggy up on top of the Downs although the runners enjoyed the views below on the way back to the finish but by then I was nice and comfy in a spare chair waiting by the finish line . .
Clicking on the
orange 20 Mile finish button will take you to
photos of runners I know through various means they may be
clubmates of mine from Tring Running Club or F E T C Hies
or Runners World Forumites some of whom I only met
for the first time at this particular race and it's
always fun putting faces to virtual identities.
Lovely to meet you all

Foreword: I was hoping to take part in the Dunstable Downs 20 mile Challenge as part of my prep for October's Abingdon Marathon but having missed a month's training because of illness I had to decide not to take part in either race . .
And so I decided I'd quite like to spend a pleasant day out in the countryside with my camera instead . .
Above are a couple of views (from close to the highest point in eastern England apparently) from the Dunstable Downs taken in advance of race day the race doesn't actually follow the path to the right but why waste a good photo!! The race does follow the ridge to the right of the first photo and it's somewhere in the first two or three miles . .
