Maybe it's just me, but just about the first thing I notice when I get out of my car in East Park is the Mill, on the other side of Holderness Road. It always seems so incongruous, being where it is.

The next thing I see of course are all the people in high-viz vests, getting ready to stage another parkrun in this beautiful park. Before the photos though, here's some video of everyone running past me, on their first lap of the Boating Lake, about 1200 metres into their 5k run.

I knew I wanted to take photos from over on the far side of the Lake, across the bridge. Having run around the course the wrong way round in the past I reckoned that I'd find a location that would let me get some views of the runners approaching me in the distance.

My plan worked far better than I dared expect, because not only did I get the view I'd anticipated, but the sun shone brightly, the day was calm so the Lake reflected everything, and ahead of me was a bare tree that glowed orange in the sunshine, which contrasted really well with the dark shades of the evergreen on the island beside it. And in some photos, there's even a Coot on it's nest . .

Once everyone had run by twice, I made my way back to the finish, just in time to see the hard working volunteers encouraging the last few finishers across the line . .

And after all that excitement it was, inevitably, time to sit back and enjoy some conversation, coffee and cake. Special cake it was too, to help celebrate John Baker's magnificent achievement in becoming the first Hull parkrunner to complete 250 parkruns. 246 of them have been at Hull, which isn't bad considering there have "only" been 260 Hull parkruns for John to take part in, and that he waited until number 4 to run his first one. Not one to travel far from home, 3 of John's other 4 runs have also taken part in the East Riding, at Peter Pan and Humber Bridge, with the furthest John has toured being Huddersfield, over in the far west!
