Shortly before 11am on Remembrance Sunday, over a thousand runners assemble in Chipping Sodbury schoolyard, and stand in silent contemplation for 2 minutes. A bugler then sounds the Last Post, and as the final note is carried away on the breeze, the runners follow one another out into Bowling Road, ready to start their 9 mile adventure over some extremely muddy parts of South Gloucestershire . .

. . and here they are in the first mile, racing through the High Street . .

. . before leaving the town behind them and heading out across the fields . . and maybe, enjoying the views on a beautiful autumn morning . .

. . photos of many of the runners at about half way through the race are on the next page . .
