In 2004 I went to Copenhagen to run the Marathon as a way of celebrating my 50th birthday. I had a great weekend and the organisers were kind enough to give me number 50 to run with. So 10 years later I thought I'd see if they'd allocate me number 60. It turned out that I wasn't able to train for a marathon but that was no reason not to visit this wonderful city, have a look around, and support a couple of friends who had put in the hard yards and were taking part alongside the thousands of other Marathon runners . .

On Sunday morning we made our way to the 3k point of the race, near Nørreport Metro station, and found a place amongst the crowd beside the road, and waited for everyone to run past. The cyclists announced that the runners were on their way . .

We figured we could see the runners in at least 4 different locations around the course . . and there was much to see and enjoy as we walked round the course

One big surprise was to see the Changing of the Guard . .

And finally, in the most torrential rain, our friends approaching the finish . . Alan for the second time that morning, and Sheila for the first time in a Marathon ever . .

Also, there were Great Crested Grebes . .
