December's first parkrunday dawned, crisp and frosty . . the first such morning of the winter. Without a cloud in the sky, the dawning sun soon began to cast long shadows across the park, as the volunteers arrived to set everything up for that morning's parkrun . .

I'd offered to take photos again, but as I wanted to take them at the parkrun turn-round point, I also offered to be the half way marshal. Only at the last moment did it dawn on me that I faced a steep trek up the hill, carrying not just my cameras, but stakes, signs and tape too. I was to have my hands full . .

In fact my chief concern, as I stumbled up the hill, was whether I'd get to my marshalling point before the runners. I needn't have worried. I got there, breathless and baking hot, with at least 10 minutes to spare.

Before we get on with the photos, here's a 13 minute video of everyone arriving at half way and beginning their descent back down to the finish . .

I was so proud of my triangle that I had to take a photo . .

Here we see the leading runners approaching the turn . . and then some views of many of the 228 parkrunners making their way through the avenue of trees towards me . .

As the last of the parkrunners disappeared down the side of the hill, there had been no sign of the tail runner. Should I stay or can I go? It transpired that Alex had had to help one of the participants back down to the finish soon after the run started, and then she turned round, and started again. I was just about to set off back to the finish area when I saw Alex in the distance, crossing the plateau towards me . .

And by the time I arrived at the start/finish area, Alex had finished, and just about everything had been tidied away, and it was time for coffee . .
