The first edition of any new parkrun is always exciting, and for some of course, maybe a little bit tense . . and knowing that in parkrun world the sun always shines at 9 am you could be forgiven for being surprised to find that the first ever Wycombe Rye parkrun took place on a gloomy and soggy morning . .

Other aspects of a parkrun morning never change, however, and it was no surprise to find Elaine and Colin, with 237 parkruns behind them, happy to describe what happens at parkrun to Helen, who had never been to one before . .

I found a place at the end of the first straight, to take my photos of the start . . and here's a short video of the runners speeding towards me . .

. . after they'd passed me, the runners made their way across the Rye, went around the playground and set off to run up behind the Dike . .

Having got to the end of the Dike it was time for a circuit of another part of the Rye, before getting back alongside the Dike, running around the perimeter of the Rye and finishing at the Lido . .

Four-legged parkrunners seem to have great fu too . .

There wouldn't be a parkrun for us to participate in if it wasn't for the Volunteers, they're the Saturday morning heroes . . and when you volunteer you get to have your photo taken without looking sweaty and exhausted . .

A feature of most (if not all) parkruns is the coffee afterwards . . this optimistic pair didn't remain outside for very long though . .

There is much to see and enjoy at Wycombe Rye . . although unfortunately Saturday wasn't the day for doing so . .
