Sewerby parkrun is my favourite parkrun. I've run, and taken photos at several parkruns, and I like this one the most. I used to walk on the cliffs above Brid Bay when I was a child with my Grandad, so I may be biased . . and when I went over and ran there on New Years Eve, I knew I had to get back to take some photos.

I planned carefully and chose the Saturday before the longest day in the year, confident that there would be plenty of sunshine to warm the runners' shoulders, and shine off the beautiful bay . .

Unfortunately I hadn't bargained on the weather that summer 2012 would present us with, and in fact the last day of 2011 was a much more pleasant day to run than this midsummer Saturday, 25 weeks later. Look at the kit some of the runners are wearing to run in and you've never guess this was June . .

. . so here's a little video of the start of the run . .

Here's Sewerby Hall . . toilets up through the arch . . and the Clock Tower Tea Rooms, the all important post parkrun coffee venue . .

Beautiful Bridlington Bay . . with the North and South Beaches split by the harbour . .

Just as at dozens of parkruns across England and Wales, shortly before 9am, runners begin to gather at the parkrun start line . . the Volunteers having been around for a while, making sure the course is marked and ready to be run around . .

And a few moments later, 36 runners were on their way past me . . heading off on their way towards Bridlington . .

. . where they turned back round and run along the cliff edge, with the waves crashing on the beach below them . .

Once back at Sewerby, the course takes the runners around the cricket pitch and then behind the Hall into the woods, a complete contrast to the cliffs they've left behind them. And having run through the trees, Sewerby parkrun emerges into the formal garden with the amazing Monkey Puzzle trees . .

. . past the friendly Volunteers, round the bench and back to the finish line in front of the Hall . .

. . and then on to the Clock Tower where there is still some work to be done . .

If you're in no rush to get away from Sewerby Hall, there's loads to do and enjoy there . . here are just a few examples . .
