It was nice to be invited to come along to this event and take some photos . . I was going to be in York for the weekend anyway and just as I expected, it was a great way to spend a morning . .

The R U Taking The P is a men only 5k race, starting and finishing in Rowntree Park, that raises money for Yorkshire Cancer Research and awareness of gender specific illness. Knavesmire Harriers provide the experience of staging running events as well as the marshals to help the runners find their way around the course . .

So here's where we are . .

. . and why we're here . .

. . the start of the race is in Terry Avenue outside the Park gates, and I headed towards the Millennium Bridge at the end of the long straight, where the runners would turn right and run a lap of the Park before heading over the River Ouse across Skeldergate Bridge . .

. . I could just see the runners as they lined up behind the start line . . and once the hooter sounded they raced towards me . . and the youngest competitor gave me a wave as he whizzed by . .

. . and you can watch this short video taken at the same time . .

Once they'd all run past I wandered down to the Millennium Bridge to take photos of as many of the runners as possible as they came back across the river . . there was a crowd of supporter with me on the bridge and they made plenty of noise cheering everyone on their way . .

. . after 35 minutes just about everyone had gone past and we only had to wait for the Strolling Singers who were carousing their way around the course . . and here they are, with an entourage of marshals keeping them company . .

. . please use the buttons below or up at the top left of the page to find photos from before the race, of the start, and crossing the Millennium Bridge. You can even buy some of them if you like!!
