I think this has to be the wettest event that I've ever covered . . and it was astonishing that Adderbury Running Club and their friends and helpers managed to stage their 10k and Half Marathon despite the dreadful conditions that prevailed . .

The morning begins with a walk from the car park to the sports field, with the Spire watching over us . .

. . and continues with the runners setting off on their races in the pouring rain . .

Last year I'd taken photos of all the runners beside the windmill that's a feature of the course . . and thought that this year I'd take my photos as the runners crossed one of the corn fields . .

. . but when I arrived at this stream I could go no further as I hadn't thought to bring my wellies . .

. . and I spent a happy couple of hours taking photos of runners finding many different ways of wading through the muddy water . .

. . before they disappeared up the hill towards what was loosely described as "dry land" . .

. . some four legged spectators . .

. . and finally, here are many of the other things I found to take photos of during the morning . .
