If you're taking part in the Riverbank Rollick, it's difficult to escape the view of the two bridges that connect England and Wales across the Severn Estuary . . in the middle of the race there's a good long section of about a mile during which the first bridge in particular dominates the horizon . .

. . but before we get there we risk getting lost amongst the many footpaths that criss-cross the area behind the west of Thornbury . . fortunately it's all well signposted by Thornbury Running Club beforehand and the signs are easily followed . . and so we make our way to Race HQ at Mundy Playing Fields, and the start, close to St Mary's Church . .

. . just beside the Church was this beautiful Robin, singing away to his heart's content . . I really must get a camera that records sound too!!

. . once the Race was underway I dashed down to Littleton-on-Severn and took photos for 15 minutes of the Runners battling into the wind . .

. . before dashing back again to the finish area, where all was calm in the stream, and the water was clear and free of mud!!

. . use the buttons to the left (you'll need to scroll up a bit now) to find photos from before the race, of the start, and on the riverbank and at the finish. You can even buy some of them if you like!!

. . and despite the previous day's awful weather forecast, the sky was dry right until the final runner crossed the finish line, with possibly the biggest grin of the day . . and only then did the heavens open!!
