parks are brilliant, aren't they . . you're in the middle of a large city or town and it can seem as if the streets and buildings stretch for miles and miles . . yet if you look at a map you find all these patches of green dotted here and there . . we're so fortunate that these areas were left empty for us to enjoy . .

East Park in Hull is one such park . . refurbished not so long ago, and now winning awards, it was enhanced in April last year by the introduction of parkrun . . and now, almost a year later, well over 100 runners regularly turn up just before 9am every Saturday morning to enjoy East Park . .

. . and despite the sign above (top right) there's loads of things to do in East Park . . and places to go too, it would seem . .

. . I went along today to support a particular friend, to say hello to some other people I knew and to take a few photos. My challenge was to take sufficient photos in the time it took Di to run parkrun, to be able to say a little something about both East Park and parkrun . .

. . and having said how fortunate we are to have places like East Park to enjoy, we're also very fortunate to have people like Paul and Gill (on the right of the end photo) and their friends, because it was they who introduced parkrun to Hull . . and without them, and the other volunteers, there could be no parkrun . .

coffee probably comes a close third in the list of things to be grateful for . .

There's loads more than this in East Park, to see and do and enjoy, this is just a snapshot really. I had a lovely morning, especially when the sun was out . . it's great to be out in a beautiful park watching others tire themselves out . . and when it gets warmer again I'll probably join in too . . and one of the lovely things about our Parks and parkruns is that you never know what you may find . .

. . and we found Nemo!!
