I don't often feel the urge to run these days (sadly) but this evening (Monday) I did . . and had to heed the call and get out for a few k's . . which means these photos are up later than I'd have liked but I blame all of you for clearly enjoying your run so much as you passed me on Pitstone Hill yesterday . .

When the Race Director asked if the set up team could be at Race HQ for 7am on race day, the idea of starting the race 50 minutes early at 10 past 10, which had seemed so cool back when we realised the race would be on 10.10.10, suddenly didn't seem so clever!

Nevertheless the alarms were set and by the time I rolled up at about 8.45 I was too late to help . . clearly Dizzy had supervised everybody very well . .

Inside the Cricket Club Pavilion, aka Race HQ, all the necessary equipment was laid out for the marshals . . and put to good use here for example at the far end of Marshcroft Lane . .

Not that we had much time to pose because pretty soon after I got there we were joined by the 470+ runners . .

I cheated and drove round to Pitstone Hill . . and found more gaudy marshals . .

and whilst the sun strained to break through the cloud . . James Buis was first up the hill for the third consecutive year . .

and as the sun got stronger those of us wth time to admire the view could see further . .

the Last Runner Marshal took me by surprise, I hadn't expected to see Geoff quite so early "the so & so's are running too fast this year", he told me . . and I made it back to the finish in time to see this fab reminder that no matter the time, or the distance, or the location, finishing a race is a wonderful feeling . .

Meanwhile, the results were being collated, and many of the course markers and detritus had already been returned to HQ . .
