When I set off from Aylesbury the morning was shrouded in fog, and I wondered why I was bothering, but as I drove south down the A41 the sun broke through, it became a beautiful autumn morning, and I knew the reason why . .

However the sun was clearly having the same misgivings, because it went back under the duvet and we were left with a miserable cloudy morning . .

But in the beautiful surroundings of Watford's Cassiobury Park there was much to appreciate, enjoy and be cheerful about . .

The indefatigable cheerfulness of everyone from Watford Joggers for example . .

The sight of the runners lined up and setting off on their way around the testing 5 mile course . .

The lovely autumn colours contrasting sharply with the garish lycra worn by the runners . .

And this corridor of trees that the runners passed through in the first mile . .

I hadn't realised until I saw the second sign that there were two races going on in the Park . . although the second one was just passing through . .

There were some very silly dogs . . and some very sensible ones too . .

And even some swingers . .

Lots of things caught my eye before today's winner, Grant Ramsay, led the runners back down the hill into the Park towards the finish line . .
